Members and friends of the Parish are invited to join the new Men's Study Group at St. Barnabas, which will have its first monthly meeting on Thursday, November 10 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Participants will complete a reading each month before the meeting, and a lively discussion will ensue in the undercroft on the second or third Thursday of each month through June 8, 2023. At a time when the traditional notion of manly virtues and Christian values in general are under assault, the purpose of the study group is to better understand the role that a man of faith is to play in our communities and in society at large. Readings will consist of books regarding current events and cultural trends in a Christian context, books by the church fathers, notable theologians and cultural/political commentators, as well as selected fiction and film. Click the link to the right for a description of the meeting format and the planned readings for each of the eight meetings in the 2022-2023 year. The reading in preparation for the first meeting on November 10, 2022 is Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis (also the author of The Chronicles of Narnia, a volume of which we will read later in the year). Please see Fr. Hilgendorf, Deacon Simons or Bob Weil if you have any questions or would like to learn more. We hope to see you there!
